Mission

The Mission of Finote Wongel - Path of the Gospel  is to support disadvantaged communities of any faith, race and ethnic background and empower servants by providing resources and/or systems that accelerates their service to transmit the Gospel. We implement this mission through empowering community, Gospel transmission and servants support and youth empowerment. 

Description

Since becoming a Washington nonprofit in 2014, our program in Ethiopia supports a total of 42 kids for their school needs and food requirements. These kids are managed through our contact in Addis who distributes food, and educational materials. The children get support from our contact to make sure they stay in school and their academic progress is up to date.

Alongside our efforts in Ethiopia, Finote Wongel - Path of the Gospel also has been supporting those in need locally in Seattle. In 2019, we fed the homeless in Seattle in collaboration with Konjit Catering, where over 80 people were fed. In 2020, we collaborated with the Ethiopian Community in Seattle to sponsor food and drinks for over 45 Ethiopians, most of whom live in shelters. In 2022, in collaboration with YMCA and Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle fed over 100 homeless in the South Seattle area under the I90 bridge. In addition, Urban League of Seattle supplied dental hygiene package (toothpaste, tooth brush, floss). YMCA supplied 100 sleeping bags. On April 8, Finote Wongel fed the homeless at the shelter by University Village. Parents and their children participated in this effort and the children wrote letters of encouragement for the homeless.

In 2022, Finote Wongel in collaboration with YMCA and Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle was funded by King County Public Health to make short culturally appropriate videos that will correct misinformation about COVID19 vaccines and encourage members to be vaccinated.  Here is a link to these videos which are housed on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4yt-Iw_fk8fY61PXf7yt9b-0qCSUORyI. As trusted messengers, we are also sharing current translated vaccine information with faith based leaders so they can communicate the importance of vaccines to their parish. 

Gospel transmission and servants support - We also provide resources and/or systems support that accelerates servants service to transmit the Gospel.

Recognition

Finote Wongel - Path of the Gospel is run by volunteers who are giving their time, knowledge and monthly donations to sustain the organization.
