Issue #4: 1 Week After GiveBIG

Previous Issue: Week 1  |  Week 2  |  Week 3

Welcome to Issue #4 of Fundraising Accelerator, a step-by-step road map for planning a successful GiveBIG campaign.

Congratulations! So far, donors have given more than $6.8 million to 1,100+ organizations. In the face of financial uncertainty and donor anxiety, many of you were able to pull off a successful GiveBIG campaign.

We'll have final tallies available in early June, once we get the full picture of offline donations, matching funds, and in-kind contributions from our media partners.

This week, focus on these three action items:

    1. Thank your GiveBIG donors!

    2. Enter offline donations to show the full impact of your campaign.

    3. Review donor data and discuss what worked and how to improve.

1. Thank your GiveBIG donors!

Have you said thank you to your GiveBIG donors yet? The automated email they get from the Washington Gives platform isn't enough! Depending on how many donors supported your organization, you can consider any of these options:

  • Ask your staff and board to make phone calls personally thanking those who donated. Some of your board members may not feel comfortable doing these calls, so provide them with a simple script that they can adjust so it sounds natural and organic. It might be helpful to send everyone a list of donors so your staff/board can choose to personally contact anyone they know. For some board members, this could be a major ask, so you might want to assign this task to only a select number of them.
