Hello friends! Many of you know that I have been working at Casa Latina since the days of the pandemic and that I love my work! In teaching morning ESL and computer classes, coordinating the Somos Vecinos language exchange program, and managing a variety of workshops and guest presentations for our community members, I have come to know how profoundly our members appreciate and believe in the work we are doing together. In spite of (and in the midst of) the unfolding chaos and upheaval that we are witnessing so far this year, I continue to be inspired by the determination and fortitude of this community.
I’m fundraising for Casa Latina because I believe in their powerful movement and model to advance the rights and dignity of Latinx day laborers and domestic workers in King County, WA.
Casa Latina is a nonprofit organization that builds power among Latinx immigrant workers through employment opportunities, education, and community organizing. From connecting workers with fair and dignified jobs, to offering ESL and job skills classes, to organizing for stronger labor protections, we use a Popular Education model that centers the realities of our members and honors their knowledge, skills, and aspirations.
This approach goes beyond direct services. Casa Latina supports members in becoming leaders and advocates, helping shape a more just and equitable future for all immigrants.
This GiveBIG, I invite you to join me in amplifying this vital work. Every contribution builds power, opens doors, and honors the leadership and resilience of immigrant workers.
Thanks for your support of this important cause at this critical time!
