Olympic Neighbors not only provides housing for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, but it provides community, inclusion, education, engagement, and so much more. I am so grateful to be able to be a part of an organization with so many passionate, caring, and dedicated people. Additionally, it is inspiring to see the residents of Hamilton House engage with and give back to our community in so many ways. It has been amazing to see their dedication to their jobs, volunteer service, and hobbies!

  • It cost significantly less to support people in their community than in a state institution. ($1,000 a day less)
  • Quality of life improves when people are supported and engaged in their community.
  • Everyone deserves to live, work and flourish in their community especially one of our most vulnerable populations.
  • There are 300+ people with a developmental disability living in Jefferson County.
  • State funding covers approximately 65% of the cost it takes to operate an adult family home.
  • There is need for more adult family homes in the majority of counties throughout the state.
  • People will disabilities are being forced to live in emergency rooms and institutions still due to lack of community options.
  • Washington State is ranked 39th in the Nation for funding for services for people with IDD
