I retired from my criminal defense practice at the end of 2023.  About half of my cases were court appointed--public defender in other words.  I have always sided with the underdogs.  Since retirement, I have volunteered at Casa Latina, teaching English and studying Spanish.  Our federal government has now made immigrants public enemy number one and that is so wrong.  They are as protected by due process and the Constitution as any citizen.  We need to act.

Casa Latina is a nonprofit organization that builds power among Latinx immigrant workers through employment opportunities, education, and community organizing. From connecting workers with fair and dignified jobs, to offering ESL and job skills classes, to organizing for stronger labor protections.

Their approach goes beyond direct services. Casa Latina supports members in becoming leaders and advocates, helping shape a more just and equitable future for all immigrants.

This GiveBIG, I invite you to join me in amplifying this vital work. Every contribution builds power, opens doors, and honors the leadership and resilience of immigrant workers.

¡Gracias por apoyar esta causa tan importante!
