Bellingham Mountain Rescue Council, a member of Whatcom County Search and Rescue, provides technical search and rescue services through the 911 system to include wilderness search, trail rescue, rope rescue, avalanche and crevasse rescue, and body recovery. BMRC brings EMT-level medical care to the far reaches of Whatcom County, far from hospitals or even roads.
So far in 2024 we have responded to over 45 calls for assistance ranging from ankle injuries on popular trails (Chain Lakes Loop, for example), all the way to multiday searches on the complex glaciers of Mt Baker (10,786') and Mt Shuksan (9,131').
And we do it all for free. Bellingham Mountain Rescue shares the philosophy of No Charge for Rescue, and does not charge for any of our services. Our operations are entirely funded through personal and corporate donation. 100% of your donations go to support our team's equipment, training, and administrative needs. All 55 of our members are volunteers, and commit their own time and money to train and respond to these rescue calls.
Bellingham Mountain Rescue Council is registered 501c3 non-profit. All donations are tax deductible. EIN 91-1203122 For in-kind donations or other questions, please reach out: treasurer@bellinghammountainrescue.com
