Why Ventures?

Ventures empowers individuals with limited resources to transform their lives through small businesses ownership. They provide business training and coaching in both English and Spanish, as well as access to capital that may not be available through traditional means. 

Ventures’ mission is to support women, people of color, immigrants, and low-income entrepreneurs. In today’s economic climate, Ventures’ work is more critical than ever.

How much should I give?

No gift is too small to make a big impact for an entrepreneur! Your donation directly helps people build sustainable small businesses that uplift their families and strengthen our communities. 

Ventures supports over 800 micro-business owners each year — people turning ideas into income, and barriers into breakthroughs.

Your gift to Ventures helps fund:

• The Basic Business Course – a 9-week program, offered in English and Spanish, that equips aspiring entrepreneurs with the tools to launch and grow their businesses. 
• Policy advocacy – pushing for reforms that remove barriers and create opportunities for underserved entrepreneurs.
• Incubation spaces like The Ventures Marketplace – a vibrant Pike Place Market storefront that’s helped local vendors earn over $1M since 2011.
• Microloans up to $50,000 – giving entrepreneurs the capital they need to grow, innovate, and thrive.

I’ve seen the positive impacts of entrepreneurship firsthand having had the privilege of working for small business owners, meeting so many of them and sharing their stories in my retail communications roles, and now as a member of the Board of Directors at Ventures.
