Do you ever wonder who paints so many of the wonderful murals around the greater Seattle area? Most likely, it’s done by Urban Artworks (UA) through one of our various programs (check out our mural gallery). We are the most visibly invisible organization.
As the Board Chair for UA, I am even more committed to raising funds for this organization. The Flanery-Rye Funhouse and my company, Inclusion Equals, will be matching donations towards the UA Board Matching this year. Any bit will help, so I would love it if you would join me to help these youths find their grounding in art while beautifying the greater Seattle Area.
Urban ArtWorks' mission is to equitably engage youth, artists, and communities in the creation of public art that inspires connections and honors their voices. With support from folks like you, we are able to make a huge impact by visibly transforming spaces, providing access to the arts and employment for youth who face barriers, employing local emerging artists, and building trust within our communities as people come together to paint side by side.
- In 2022, Urban ArtWorks engaged 2,685 youth, artists, and community members through the creation of 118 public artworks in 24 Seattle neighborhoods and 12 cities!
- Of the 104 total youth apprentices in Urban ArtWorks 2022 programs: 69% youth are from BIPOC communities, 62% identify as LGBTQ+, and 55% are from low-income households.
- This summer, we plan to reach youth apprentices in six communities in Seattle, Burien, and Shoreline - more than ever before!
We need YOUR help to expand our reach throughout the region! We look forward to helping nurture strong communities through the creation of collaborative public art! Please consider making a donation today!
