PeaceTrees Vietnam - headquartered in Seattle, Washington, and Quảng Trị Province, Vietnam - is dedicated to addressing the legacy of the U.S-Vietnam War through mine action, community assistance, and citizen diplomacy. In partnership with Vietnamese leadership and local communities, PeaceTrees safely clears land of explosive remnants of war and supports community-led education and economic development initiatives so that future generations can thrive. Your support cultivates prosperous and sustainable futures for communities that continue to be impacted by war.
PeaceTrees Vietnam was founded in 1995 to help heal the wounds of war, renew relationships, and promote safe and healthy futures for children and families in Vietnam still living alongside deadly remnants of war.
Our scholarship program supports children ages 5 through 22 and are awarded to female ethnic minority children, children who have been impacted by an EO (explosive ordnance) accident or are living with a disability, and children experiencing financial hardships. Increasing access to education is an essential aspect of our commitment to addressing generational poverty rooted in the aftermath of war. One of these scholarship recipients is Ho Thi Hoa Mi, a six-year-old kindergartener from Lia Commune in Quảng Trị Province. We invite to meet Hoa Mi and her grandparents through the short video below:

In addition to educational programs like scholarships and building kindergartens, PeaceTrees supports post clearance development projects that help local communities build sustainable and successful futures. To ensure that these projects provide tangible and sustainable benefits, PeaceTrees works in close collaboration with local communities and Vietnamese leadership and prioritizes their participation in project selection, design, and evaluation.
PeaceTrees also aims to support communities as they begin tackling challenges brought about by extreme weather events and climate change related hazards. Increasingly, community development projects aim to address flood risk, support the diversification of livelihoods, and provide access to clean water in communities that experience the dual impact of environmental hazards and war legacy.
PeaceTrees’ approach ensures meaningful collaboration with community members, so that programs remain adaptive and responsive to local priorities and needs.
Our vision is a Vietnam completely cleared of dangerous explosive ordnance and communities fully supported in their goals for safety, resiliency, education, and economic success. We hope you will join us in this important effort by making a donation!
