The Monroe Arts Council (“MAC”) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that has been serving the Monroe community since 2003, supporting art and culture in our town and the greater Sky Valley Area. The MAC is a 100% volunteer organization.
A key MAC initiative is the renovation of the historic Wagner Performing Arts Center, a 632-seat theater built in 1939. With donations, grants, and lots of volunteer elbow grease, we are bringing this beauty back to life!
Your donation will help us upgrade the stage, sound, and lighting, reupholster the original 1939 seats, replace the old, tattered drapery, and renovate the restrooms and lobby. We are keeping the Wagner's historic charm while adding ADA accessibility and better function. While we do this work, we continue to make the theater available for community theater, concerts, and dance exhibitions. The Wagner Performing Arts Center is a community treasure!
Our mission statement:
To stimulate the growth of visual, literary and performing arts;
to enhance the community through art in public places;
and to preserve the historic legacy of Monroe.
