Diva Internship Development Program
$0 Raised
Dignity for Divas supports unhoused women, specifically targeting those from Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) backgrounds who often face intersecting challenges due to systemic inequities, including housing instability, economic vulnerability, and social marginalization. We serve women across King, Pierce and Snohomish County conducting outreach and case management supporting those who are experiencing homelessness as well as to women who are newly housed. DfD targets the root causes of homelessness, offering holistic and personal development programs that prioritize dignity, respect, and empowerment. By fostering connection and a sense of belonging, we provide the essential tools, services, and support needed to heal, rebuild, and transition from homelessness to lasting stability.
OUR DIVAS
•Approximately 60% of the unsheltered women we serve are African American and People of Color and between the ages of 16 to 60 years old.
•Approximately 40% of women have experienced domestic violence.
•At least 90% of women in our Keep the Key Home program (these are women who have recently transitioned into permanent housing) have young children.
We provide low-barrier connections to Families who represent historically marginalized groups, such as LGBTQ adults, immigrants and refugees, and people of color who typically lack access to necessary housing navigation services needed to attain permanent housing.
OUR KEEP THE KEY PROGRAMS
The Welcome Home Program is the only comprehensive program in the region that offers free year-long classes and workshops to women who have recently moved from the streets into a home of their own. For many women, fear doesn’t end once you become housed, rather a new fear begins. That is the fear of “keeping the key” and not returning to an unsheltered life.
To help women settle into their new home, DfD provides them with a Welcome Home Kit that contains a selection of new personal care products and new household supplies. For women with children, new toys and books are included. Women are also invited to participate in the following free year-long classes, workshops and resources:
The support, skills and tools women gain from our Keep the Key Program are life changing. Women feel connected and empowered to continue their journey to success and “keep the key.”
All participants benefit from free transportation to and from classes and workshops, peer engagement, guidance and ongoing support by DfD staff. This is what women need to not only take the steps to become housed but to "keep the key" and remain housed.
Dignity for Divas partners with various Foundations and Corporations to address the needs of homeless women and their families throughout the region. All have provided direct services, goods, and other in-kind support, as well as financial contributions.
We are so grateful - we couldn't do it without them!
