What is Food Lifeline?
Food Lifeline is on a mission to end hunger in Western Washington, believing that access to food is a basic human right and that nobody deserves to be hungry. They provide nutritious food to 1.37 million people facing hunger by sourcing from a variety of food industry partners. They distribute through a network of 350 food banks, shelters, and meal programs, enabling them to provide the equivalent of more than 282,000 meals every single day. At the same time, Food Lifeline is working to end hunger for the future by addressing its root causes, including poverty, racial inequity, and social injustice. They do this through advocacy efforts to shape local, state, and federal policy, by partnering with organizations that are addressing other causes of poverty, and through engagement and bundling food assistance with other community-based programs and services.
What is Food Frenzy?
Food Frenzy is a creative competition between local businesses to raise funds, food and volunteer with Food Lifeline. It is a two week campaign between July 15 and July 29. With every $1 donation, Food Lifeline can provide the equivalent of 5 meals. Last year, Mithun raised enough to provide 49,500 meals! Let's try to make it to 60,000 this year! (Note that San Francisco and Los Angeles teammates can donate directly to their local foodbanks this year.)
