I am fundraising with my work for this event, which, as you all know, I never fundraise! But this is something that hits home for me. I'm hiking for recovery in memory of my nephew and godson Zach, whose life was cut short by an overdose. He was 3 months shy of his 23rd birthday. Zach was deeply loved by his family. He is missed every day, and his story reflects the reality that substance use is a health issue, not a failing. I hike to honor his life and to advocate for compassionate, evidence-based approaches that meet people where they are.

I hike to remind people that Recovery looks different for everyone, and our job is about keeping people safe, connected, and empowered to make choices that support their well-being. This hike is a way to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and support the resources that help people survive and thrive. Every step I take is for Zach, and for every person who deserves care, dignity, and the chance to heal.
