Kendrick is one of 20+ cats found living in a Seattle yard, making his home inside some old cars - what had started as a couple of strays turned into a full-blown colony. This friendly fellow was seen limping and was scooped up and brought into foster care.

We took him in to get X-rays and discovered he has a rare congenital condition. Kendrick was born with malformed femoral heads. The ends of his femurs that normally fit in the hip socket are missing! This abnormality causes instability, inflammation, and pain in his legs, making it difficult for him to walk comfortably.

To restore his mobility and quality of life, Kendrick is scheduled to receive femoral head ostectomy (FHO) surgery. The procedure will remove the sharp edges from the ends of his femurs and will allow a false joint to form, giving him a chance at a normal, pain-free life.

The cost of his surgery, hospitalization, and recovery care is significant, and we’re seeking support to make his treatment possible. Your donation will directly fund:

·      Surgery and anesthesia
·      Hospitalization and monitoring
·      Medications and physical therapy
·      Follow-up care

Every contribution helps Kendrick take the next step toward a healthy, active future. Here he is with his niece Damiana:

We’ve already helped more cats this year than ever before — surpassing our 2024 total on November 1st. and the cats and kittens keep coming. Cats like Kendrick remind us why we can’t stop. And thanks to help from donors we can give him the chance to run, play, and live without discomfort.

Alley Cat Project’s primary mission is to reduce the population of stray cats in Seattle through trap, neuter, and return of feral cats. We spay and neuter feral adult cats, and we foster, socialize and adopt out kittens as well as adult cats who have socialization potential. ACP is 100% volunteer run and foster based, and does not have a physical shelter.
