CIE promotes prosperity in rural Washington through business education.

My request: $25 and 2 mins - Donate and spread the word!

It is hard to start a small business. Even harder if you are a minority in a rural community. The Center for Inclusive Entrepreneurship offers entrepreneurship classes and technical advice to everyone.

Why should we help entrepreneurs?   Because teaching someone how to start their own business has a more lasting impact than a handout.

If they're poor, where do they get the money to start a business? Using the lean startup method, many students get started for under $1,000. But CIE also connects students with hard-to-find public and private startup grants / loans of $500 to $20,000.

Does it work?  CIE has a nine-year track record of training, advising, and supporting aspiring business owners in low-income communities to launch over 180 new businesses creating approximately 240 new jobs.

$50 - Course materials for one student entrepreneur

$500 - Train one student - Either the 2-week Start Simple evening program or the Comadres program

My ask - $25 and 2 mins

After you make your donation please tell your friends about CIE. Changes at the Federal level impacted our funding (they didn't like the "inclusive" in our name). So your support at any level is especially helpful this year.

Have the joy of knowing you are promoting prosperity and having a lasting impact in rural communities.

If you would rather donate time, please let me know, there are many fun and interesting opportunities for volunteers!

Please join me in supporting CIE!

If I still haven't convinced you.... here are more reasons to support CIE:

  • Triple the Impact - When someone learns how to start a business, they build self-confidence, learn financial literacy, and earn additional income.
  • Lasting Change - Handouts are temporary help. Helping someone start their own business helps them for the long-term. They become a job-creator, adding to their family's income, and creating generational wealth.
  • Community-wide Impact - New small businesses benefit their community in many ways. The launch of a new day care helps rural parents stay employed. Starting a business could be someone's best path out of unemployment.
  • Entrepreneurship gap - Mainstream entrepreneurship focuses on business that can return millions to investors, so even a $50,000 a year family business is not worthy of their help. Aspiring micro-business owners get left out.
