Eight years ago, Sound Team Realty ran its first food drive for Food Lifeline. There was no event and no plan beyond emails and texting. Friends and clients set bags of canned goods on their porches, and we spent a 2 weeks driving around King, Snohomish, and Pierce counties picking them up, filling the back of the car, and dropping it all off at Food Lifeline. It was a small effort. We didn't plan on it becoming a tradition. It just kept making sense.

Since then, our clients, friends, neighbors, and team have donated thousands of pounds of food and more than $8,000 to Food Lifeline. Every pound and every dollar has gone toward the same thing: getting food to people across Western Washington who don't have enough of it.

The drive has grown up over the years. We stopped driving house to house and started hosting an event instead. That changed the feel of it. The people who give to this effort are the same clients, friends, and neighbors who have supported Sound Team Realty for years, and the event is our chance to give something back to them at the same time. They show up, bring food or a donation, and spend a couple of hours with people they know. Food Lifeline gets the donations. We get to say thank you in person.

We're a real estate team. Our work is helping people find a home and settle into it. Along the way, we've come to know a lot of families in King, Snohomish, and Pierce counties, and we've seen how quickly a stable situation can turn. A job loss, a medical bill, a rent increase, and suddenly the grocery budget is the thing that gives. Food Lifeline exists for exactly that moment. They move food at a scale no single household or business could, and they get it to the food banks, shelters, and meal programs that people actually walk into. Supporting them is the most direct way we've found to help the community we work in every day.

The need in our region hasn't gone away. If anything, it's grown. So this year, we're doing it again.

Here's how to take part. You can donate directly through this page, and every dollar goes to Food Lifeline. You can also bring non-perishable food to our event at the Broadview Taphouse on September 19th from 11am-2pm, or drop it at our office at 300 NE 97th Street in Seattle. Canned proteins, peanut butter, rice, pasta, cereal, and shelf-stable milk are always in demand. If it's easier, share this page with someone who might give. That helps as much as anything.

To everyone who has set a bag on the porch, come to the event, or sent a donation over the past eight years: thank you. The totals above are yours, not ours. We just carried the boxes.
