Launching Adult Life
At New Horizon School, our mission—"Where Children Come First"—doesn't end at graduation. It extends into our crucial Transition Extension (TE) Program. This program is specifically designed for our graduates and older students (ages 18+) who are learning to navigate the challenges of adult life and live with greater independence.
The goal of the TE Program is to provide practical training for employment and independence, but we have an urgent problem: our classroom is not a home.
We teach students how to manage a budget, interview for a job, and care for their homes—but they cannot fully practice these essential life skills in their current, non-functional space. It’s like teaching someone to swim without water.
This Giving Tuesday, your donation will transform a classroom into a fully functional Transition Lab.
We are raising funds to install the working appliances and fixtures necessary to give our students hands-on mastery of daily life:
A Functional Kitchen: To teach safe cooking, nutrition, and meal prep skills.
A Working Laundry Unit: To ensure graduates can properly care for their clothing and manage household chores.
Specialized Training Areas: To practice household maintenance, cleaning, and organization.
By funding this renovation, you are doing more than updating a room. You are equipping our graduates to build the confidence and resilience they need to thrive as independent adults. You are ensuring that every student who leaves New Horizon School has the skills to successfully
Launch Independence.
