Rescued Kitten Emergency Surgery Fund

A few months ago, we introduced you to a litter of snowshoe kittens that quickly became internet favorites. Adoption and foster applications poured in, and just a couple of weeks ago, the last of the kittens finally headed home.

We were thrilled for each of them-including Cilantro.

Not long after his adoption, Cilantro developed a prolapsed rectum and was rushed to urgent care. From there, he was transferred to an emergency hospital, where he was diagnosed with an intussusception-a condition where part of the intestine folds into itself, causing a blockage that requires immediate surgery.

His adopters were suddenly facing an unexpected medical emergency just days after bringing home their new kitten. They made the difficult decision to return both Cilantro and his sister to Alley Cat Project so he could receive the care he needed.

Of course, we said yes.

We transferred Cilantro's medical care back to us, found a foster home for his sister, and made sure he could focus on recovering. That's part of our commitment: when one of our cats needs us, we're there.

What we can't always plan for are the costs. Cilantro's emergency surgery and hospitalization have already exceeded $3,000.

During kitten season, unexpected expenses like this stretch our resources even further. Right now, we're caring for more than 300 cats across our foster network while responding to dozens of new requests for help every week. Every donation helps us say "yes" to emergencies like Cilantro's without slowing down the rest of our lifesaving work.
