Each month, we receive an average of five hundred emails and phone calls from people experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness due to falling behind on rent, inability to save up for move in costs or those who have become homeless due to fleeing domestic violence. 

Since 2018, Africatown International have helped those in need as the managers of the Centralized Diversion Fund (CDF). CDF is a proven strategy that improves housing stability by providing flexible funding for move in costs, past rental debt in collections or past due rent. The fund provides centralized and streamlined access and connection to permanent housing solutions. Our service model is centered on the individual determining their best route to exit or avoid homelessness.

Coupled with flexible funding for housing, we also provide funding for job training such as certificate programs that enable individuals to learn new skills that can help them secure employment.

Our approach is helping people create diversified income; develop robust community networks for trading goods and services; and ensuring basic needs like housing, food and other basic needs are met. We help build long term financial self-sufficiency through skill-building, community level support and resource access.  

To date, we have supported 2,603 households through our programs.
