This year marks my 25th year (!) at Creative Dance Center, a place where I’ve witnessed what happens when a door opens and someone is welcomed in.
At our school show in March our Adaptive BrainDance class performed to the song Doorways, co-written by CDC faculty member Joel Nyland and artists who are nonspeaking and communicate through letterboards. One of the lyrics asks, “Hold the door for me now, help me through…”
That is the spirit I have come to recognize and know deeply over 25 years at CDC. It lives at the heart of our community.
We open doors through financial aid and scholarships, dance classes for children experiencing homelessness, and school residencies that bring movement and creativity to students across our community.
To celebrate my 25 years at CDC, I’ve set a goal of raising $2,500!
