GiveBIG with Alyssa for Urban ArtWorks
Show up for youth, artists, and communities!
I'm fundraising for an organization that is near and dear to my heart, Urban ArtWorks UA is a Washington-based organization with a mission of engaging youth, artists, and communities in the creation of public art that inspires connection and honors their voices. I am in my 3rd year of board service for UA and believe deeply in the work they do. If you live in the Seattle area, you have likely walked by a UA public art piece but what you may not know is how that mural or public art piece has brought together members of your community and support our local youth and artists.
Since 1995, Urban ArtWorks has collaborated with thousands of young people and hundreds of artists to bring art to public spaces throughout the PNW. Through paid youth arts employment programs, K-12 school partnerships, and commissioned and community murals, Urban ArtWorks is breaking barriers - one wall at a time! Watch a video to learn more about the organization:
“Urban ArtWorks has given me a space to grow as a human being and an artist. Everyone you meet has something to teach, and I'm grateful for a space where I can contribute to my community.” - Youth Artist
Last year, Urban ArtWorks engaged 2,400 youth, artists, and community members, co-creating 100 public artworks in 16 Seattle neighborhoods and 11 additional cities!
We prioritize working with people who face barriers to arts education and employment opportunities. Last year we worked with 172 youth apprentices, who earned more than $85,000 in stipends: 77% of youth apprentices were from BIPOC communities, 38% were LGBTQIA+, and 49% were low-income.
How Your Support Helps:
- $10 = 1 youth sketchbook
- $50 - 1 gallon of paint
- $150 = 1 Teaching Artist for 1 class
- $500 = 1 Youth Apprentice stipend
- $1,000 = 2-3 sliding-scale scholarships for summer camps
- $2,000 = art supplies for an entire cohort
Make a donation today, and help us break barriers - one wall at a time!
