As we wrap up the first season of the Seattle Bach Festival, we celebrate our first season and look ahead to a bright future. Your vision and support helps us fulfill our mission to inspire with performances of masterworks of Bach and pearls of the Baroque that move and uplift the spirits, nourish hearts, open minds and convene community.
From our first rehearsals in January, we felt that we were embarking on something truly special and meaningful. We set out with a clear vision: to share the profound beauty of Bach's music with this city and region, to uplift spirits, to nourish hearts, and to convene a community of musicians and music lovers around this timeless art. And thanks to all of you, that vision has become a reality.
Your partnership and generosity is essential for us move confidently into our second full season of concerts, masterclasses, outreach events and lectures.
Your support directly impacts the lives of many individuals in our community and our region, from our musicians and staff to the audiences who experience the transformative power of the music of Bach and the baroque.
Together with your support, the Seattle Bach Festival has been able to accomplish so much in our first year:
- SBF presented 4 house concerts in Edmonds, Tacoma, Seattle last fall.
- SBF presented 3 screenings of the award-winning documentary “LIVING BACH” at the Edmonds Theater, the Tacoma Grand, and the SIFF Egyptian Theater.
- SBF presented outreach events at Horizon House, University House, Aljoya, Skyline and Aegis Queen Anne and Ballard Books as well as with Emilia Kister’s Rehearsal Project at UW.
- SBF presented 3 performances of the Celebratory Inaugural Concert in January in Tacoma, Lynnwood, Seattle. We were honored to welcome Dr. Michael Maul, director of the Leipzig Bach Festival, as ourguest of honor for a lecture-recital. We also hosted a masterclass for singers with alto Aryeh Nussbaum-Cohen at UW.
- SBF presented performances of Bach, By Arrangement in February in Tacoma, Lynnwood, Seattle.
- SBF co-presented 1 performance at Meany Hall of Bach in Motion with the UW School of Music. This recital included a world premiere commission of Recitativo e Danza by UW Faculty Member Melia Watras and a world premiere of Anna Mansbridge’s choreographed Bach Ciaccona danced by Tshedzom Tinghkye and Alejandro Frederickson.
- SBF is presenting 3 upcoming performances of Bach Cantatas in Tacoma, Lynnwood, Seattle.
Central to our mission is supporting the outstanding artists who live in the greater PNW. Over 80% of our artists in our first season hail from Seattle and the greater PNW region!
- SBF Employed 43 artists (singers, choir members, instrumentalists, and organists) for our January concerts, 36 of whom reside in Seattle and the greater PNW.
- SBF employed 5 musicians for Bach, By Arrangement, 3 of whom live in the Seattle area.
- SBF employed 5 musicians/dancers for Bach in Motion, 100% of whom reside in Seattle.
- SBF is employing 33 artists for our May Cantata project this week; 26 are from the Seattle area.
Thank you again for your vision and support for the Seattle Bach Festival! Your partnership is essential to our success.
