I am fundraising for Island Shakespeare Festival, a theater company which is dear to my heart. I have had the honor and privilege of serving as a member of the ISF Board of Directors for over six years.

ISF uniquely fosters the experience of theater. I support ISF because they believe that theater should be accessible from both an artistic perspective and as an opportunity for anyone to experience it. ISF operates on the principle of Pay What You Will and doesn't charge admission, giving anyone and everyone access to the stories and emotional performances that we work so hard to create.

I also support the work of ISF because they are passionately committed to making space in the classical canon for folks who've historically been excluded from it, onstage, offstage, and in the audience. At ISF, artists and audiences get to share in an experience of belonging. “ISF has the power to make amends - ISF has the power to create peace - ISF has the power to liberate - ISF is a place where you see yourself - and know that you, yourself, are enough - you, yourself, are great.” - Ada Karamanyan (she/her)

This summer at ISF, we are bringing to life three plays that have been on hold for two years. At long last, Love’s Labors Lost, Titus Andronicus, and an exciting new world premiere adaptation Cyrano de Bergerac: A Heroic Comedy with Many Acts will finally take to the ISF stage. Many of the actors and theater artists helping to make these shows happen have been waiting to share in these stories for two, three, and even four years. You all know how the pandemic has devastated the performing arts. My friends in the theater arts community have spent nearly two years away from the stages that they love, stages like ISF, away from sharing the necessary and emotionally nourishing experience of live theater with you, our supporters and patrons. We are so excited to get started.

Please, join me in supporting Island Shakespeare Festival this summer. Your choice to make a gift now will help all of us to take a deep breath together and create a space of art and storytelling where everyone belongs.
