Thank you in advance for helping us to continue our mission of advancing scientific research, education, and restoration on Puget Sound lowland streams. We rely on generous donors and volunteers to carry out this mission.
Stillwaters trains local citizens and students of all ages in estuary and wetland ecology through internships and monitoring programs. Our volunteer citizen scientists are in the field throughout the year monitoring the estuary, stream, and salt marsh. This will be the 18th year we have been doing this work to understand and restore the salt marsh to natural tidal flow.
We also provide environmental education and outreach opportunities for community members of all ages. We collaborate with Kitsap Public Libraries to get kids into nature with our Discovery Pack program, and work with Kingston High School to develop an environmental curriculum. We also host regular educational Science Friday lectures and public tours of the Carpenter Creek salt marsh, providing free and accessible environmental knowledge to the local community.
We do all of this with a small staff of three part-time paid persons, and over 100 volunteers. We could not do what we do without the strong community support we get from our volunteers, who put in more than 2,400 hours per year pre-COVID.
Stillwaters Environmental Center is now asking for your support. Please help us to deliver quality programming and continue to be a leader in environmental monitoring and restoration. We hope you will commit to supporting Stillwaters Environmental Center. Your help is needed!
