More Than Just Music—A Community Legacy

For over 30 years, the Sequim City Band has been the heartbeat of the North Olympic Peninsula’s musical community. What began in 1992 with just 14 members has blossomed into a 75-musician strong symphonic wind ensemble that brings the joy of free, live music to thousands of residents and visitors each year.

A Milestone of Excellence

We are proud to share that the Sequim City Band was honored with the 2023 Governor’s Arts & Heritage Award. This prestigious recognition—Washington State's highest honor in the arts—celebrates our "extraordinary commitment to the vitality of arts and heritage" and our years of hard work in providing a venue where musicians of all ages can thrive.

A Home for Future Generations

Your past support has already made a tangible impact. In 2023, we officially opened the new Chuck Swisher Rehearsal Hall at the James Center for the Performing Arts. This state-of-the-art, acoustically designed space finally gives our 70+ members the "elbow room" needed to rehearse safely and professionally. It also serves as a vital resource for the Strings Kids Music Education Program, ensuring that Sequim’s youth have access to musical instruction that isn't always available in local schools.

Our Mission in Action

When you give to the Sequim City Band, you aren't just buying sheet music; you are:

  • Enriching Lives: Providing free, high-quality symphonic concerts year-round.
  • Investing in Youth: Funding scholarships for college-bound North Olympic Peninsula music students.
  • Preserving Culture: Ensuring that the tradition of the community concert band remains vibrant for future generations.

We invite you to be part of our award-winning legacy. Help us keep the music playing—for free—for everyone.

Since moving into our new rehearsal hall in 2023, the Sequim City Band has reached new heights. We’ve grown in membership, expanded our library, and strengthened our bond with our listeners. However, there is one glaring gap in our percussion section: a set of world-class timpani.

This GiveBig, we are asking our supporters to help us complete our 'instrumental family.' At $20,000, this is a significant milestone, but one that will serve the band and the City of Sequim for the next 30 to 40 years. Help us strike the right note for the future.
