Scott has been riding with Free Rein from the very beginning. He has ridden many horses at Free Rein, and his current riding partner is Titan. Scott also likes to ride the magic MiraColt when the weather is too hot or too cold. As parents we were pretty skeptical of the MiraColt, but we have learned that it is an amazing option to keep him strong and ready to ride.
Scott has profound disabilities including Cerebral Palsy and Deaf Blindness. Through riding he has developed amazing core strength. He has learned to use a communication switch to tell Titan to "Walk On!" He has made lasting friendships with his long-term sidewalker, Linda. He has shown he understands signs as when we sign "riding is finished" he either is ready to get off and leans over to me, or he gets upset and tells Titan to "walk on" again. Mostly, Scott has a great time on his horse. Free Rein is so much more fun than typical strengthening at PT. Scott learned really quickly that he could become "noodle boy" and not have to work. It's different on a horse. He knows that he will have to get off if he can't sit up tall. This is AMAZING motivation for him.
We believe that Free Rein is an amazing organization. It has truly changed the life of Scott. It also is a great place for me to see him happy. I think I benefit just as much as he does. Please support Free Rein in our GIVE BIG campaign.
Thanks.
