Update #1
Prevent headlines like these in your local paper by helping Western Wildlife Outreach spread the word about ways to secure food sources that attract bears into your living and working places.
Everywhere is bear country! Thank you for your support.
What's On the Menu?
There are around 20,000 black bears living in Washington state. Wildlife management officials report that black bear complaints are increasing ranging from fleeting glimpses to close encounters. Some of the main reasons that black bears turn up in people's yards are: garbage cans, bird feeders and pet food.
A sustained community outreach effort is needed across Washington state to let people know that Everywhere is Bear Country. Teaching people how to secure food attractants around their living and working spaces is key to helping bears stay wild.
