Help grow social housing!

Hi! Some of you may know that I've been volunteering with House Our Neighbors, most recently on the Prop 1A campaign (which passed by 26pts!). I'm still involved with HON, and would love your support to help them continue to advocate for a future where all people can afford to live and thrive in vibrant, cohesive, and climate resilient communities, through the creation of social housing.

Washington State is facing a housing crisis. We are over-reliant on the private market for our housing supply, which prioritizes profit over people. Our low-income, affordable housing is primarily funded through the Federal Government, and as the Trump Administration is proposing drastic cuts to affordable housing, now is the time to invest in local tools to provide housing that is affordable to all. 

HONEF's coalition won two Seattle voter initiatives, Initiative 135 in 2023 and Prop 1A in 2025, creating and funding the Seattle Social Housing developer. After these victories, there is still a lot of work to be done to ensure social housing is successful. The organization's current priorities include:

1. Deepen awareness and support of social housing in Seattle, to ensure implementation is successful and social housing is created as soon as possible.
2. Expand our social housing education beyond Seattle, and help strengthen the movement in other Western Washington communities. 
3. Conduct policy research and development that will help social housing to flourish.
