We need your support now more than ever! Times are increasingly tough for people on the margins and with fixed incomes. Food prices are up, inflation is impacting what families can allocate to groceries, and Federal food assistance programs are being slashed. Nutritious foods are often the most expensive and even further out of reach for vulnerable people. Food banks are facing a sharp and ongoing decline in stock compared to last year.

While politicians debate what to do, the Hunger Intervention Program (HIP) here in King County is on the ground, working with communities to address their immediate needs. HIP is meeting the needs of children by providing nutritious balanced meals when they are out of school. For seniors, HIP has designed a program that both builds community and provides hot fresh-cooked meals 4 days a week through their Senior Meals program. And for Seniors who can’t come in-person, HIP has been delivering those hot lunches to their door. HIP is also showing care to unhoused people through its partnership with The Oaks shelter, providing hot nutritious meals.

I am honored to serve on the Board of this amazing organization and have seen firsthand the impact they are having on people’s lives. The wonderful HIP staff and volunteers take such care and pride in the work they do and make each individual they serve feel seen and valued. But we are seeing a surge in demand for their services, and we need your support in order to respond to these needs. No one should go hungry, and everyone deserves to be well-nourished. Please donate and help HIP continue this essential work!
