I am the new Executive Director of The Mockingbird Society, an advocacy organization dedicated to transforming the foster care system and ending youth homelessness. Mockingbird partners with youth and young adults with lived experience in foster care and homelessness to elevate their voices and advocate for change within the systems impacting them most.

In partnership, Mockingbird has won 57+ major policy reforms in Washington state, changing the outcomes for over 200,000 young people and prompting more than $252 million in state investment in services and support. In the process, youth advocates develop critical life and professional skills, as well as higher levels of confidence—feeling empowered to fight for change.

The Mockingbird Society is also the founder of MOCKINGBIRD FAMILY™ a centralized system of support or micro-community designed to support, develop and retain foster families. The system includes a trained, foster care provider (hub home) placed at the center of these micro-communities to provide support to foster parents, children, and youth.  A cohort of 6 to 10 Families  supporting 6 to 18 children and youth form a constellation around the hub home creating a family-oriented approach focused on ensuring extended family and community connections for children and youth in foster care.

For GiveBIG 2023 and Mockingbird's Reflect | Rebuild | Reimagine campaign, I have set a goal to raise $3,000 to support Mockingbird's work. Support the advocacy efforts of young people by making a gift today!
