Support Kenmore Community Rowing Club so we are able to continue to provide rowing in the Northshore

$9,000

raised by 17 people

$50,000 goal

Kenmore Community Rowing Club has grown exponentially in the last year.  Now we need to fundraise to support what we love:  being on the water together in the Northshore Community. Ongoing fundraising is required to continue our rapid growth and to sustain us through the winter months.

We set our fundraising goal at $50,000 to build  cash reserves so that we can move into the fall and winter with enough funds to pay for our on-going operations costs into 2023.

From the KCRC Board - We are excited about the changes and increased participation our club has seen in the last year. Spring 2021 we were only beach launching with two ancient wherries from Tl' awh-ah-dees, formerly Squires Landing, and today we have over 100 summer campers and nearly 50 adult participants rowing out of the Kenmore Public Boathouse! But with growth comes increased costs.  We ask for your financial support. We have an incredible group of rowers.  We strive to be able to continue on through the fall and winter.  We can do that with your generous financial support!

What have we been up to this year?

Winter: Hired our first full time employee, Operations and Programming Manager Coree Naslund. Offered Youth and Adult winter training for the first time at the Kenmore Public Boathouse. Purchased 4 additional ergometers bring our total to 9, and acquired a complete rack of hand weights. Until now, only spring-fall programs were offered.

Spring: Moved to the water with our adult teams, where members learned to scull for the first time in our new boats. We hosted Pocock Rowing Center for a community row where 16 members from both clubs went out on Lake Washington in mixed crews and enjoyed the (rainy) calm early morning waters. Adult Learn to Row programming started back up teaching the ultimate team sport to local participants, and plans for Summer Camps 2022 took shape. Expanded adult teams to offer evening rowing with Coach Drew. First race of the year (and first race for most rowers) at Lake Stevens Sprints in April.

Summer: 117 participants are enrolled for Summer Camps, and hired 4 camp coaches! KCRC Scholarship Drive raises $1,635 to support sharing rowing with the community. The club hosts the community for National Learn to Row day, giving local adults and children the opportunity to try rowing for free. KCRC visited the Kenmore Public Market and Woodinville Public Market to share information about rowing in the Northshore. Adult Learn to Row classing bring 25 new participants to the club! The club traveled to Seattle to row with Pocock Rowing Center, who hosted us for a great tour of Portage Bay and Lake Union.
