FUTURE PHASES

WHAT HAPPENS IN FUTURE PHASES?

The remaining restoration phases will expand usable space, increase storage, complete interior and exterior finish work, and upgrade entry steps and ramps to modern standards. These improvements will make the building more functional, safer, and better suited for community events.

USABILITY

To increase space and restore historic function, we plan to remove the rear wall and add:

  • A stage
  • A closet
  • A commercial kitchen

Under current Washington State law, facilities without a commercial kitchen are limited to four food‑permitted events per year. This means we cannot even serve popcorn at a movie night without using one of those four permits. Adding a commercial kitchen will allow us to host unlimited events, greatly expanding what we can offer the community.

The new rear addition will also create exterior storage closets beneath the stage, kitchen, and interior closet—ideal for storing cornhole boards, grills, Crosby Days Logging Festival equipment, and other event supplies.

Inside the hall, the added space will free up floor area and allow us to restore much of the interior to its original historic layout.

Note: All additions will be located at the rear of the building to preserve the historic architecture of the front and sides.

SAFETY & OPERATION

Future phases will include:

  • Repairing the front steps
  • Rebuilding the rear entry steps and ramp to meet ADA standards
  • Upgrading the electrical system for safety and reliability

These improvements ensure the building remains safe, accessible, and functional for all visitors.

HISTORY

Interior and exterior woodwork, shingles, walls, floors, and other architectural elements will be repaired and restored. Wherever possible, materials and aesthetics will match the original 1920s design, while modern materials will be used strategically to reduce long‑term maintenance costs.

USABILITY

To add space, we plan to remove the rear wall and add a closet, stage, and kitchen.

Currently, WA State law limits businesses without a commercial kitchen to a maximum of four food-permitted events a year. This means the community center cannot even make popcorn for a movie night without using one of the four food permits. The addition of a commercial kitchen will allow us to hold unlimited events!

On the building's rear exterior, the space under the stage, closet, and kitchen will be converted into exterior closets to store items like cornhole boards, grills, Crosby Days Logging Festival competition equipment, and more.

Inside, the building addition will free up interior floor space and restore most of the hall's interior to its historical original state.

Note: The building addition will be on the rear of the building, respecting the original architecture of the front and sides.
