HIP needs your support! The wonderful staff and volunteers at HIP are on the frontlines of the food insecurity crisis in King County and can’t meet our community’s needs without your help. Their work includes providing hot, freshly prepared meals for low-income seniors 3x/week at the Senior Meals community program, partnering with the Oaks Shelter as the food service provider for their residents, and setting up 11 summer meal sites to reach kids who lose access to free school meals. During the school year, HIP partners with local schools to ensure children have enough food for their weekend meals.  This tallies to more than 154,000 meals in the last fiscal year--an increase of 60% from pre-pandemic levels. And for all their programs, they center high quality food that is nutritious, seasonal, and prepared from scratch.

I am honored to serve on the Board of this amazing organization and have seen the impact they are having on people’s lives. HIP prioritizes the “how” in their community engagement as much as the “what” in their food service. Over the years, I have spoken with so many people who have shared how important HIP is both in helping make ends meet and also for providing a welcoming space where they feel seen and valued.

Food prices are up, inflation is impacting what families can allocate to groceries, and the Federal food assistance program has shrunk. Nutritious foods are often the most expensive and even further out of reach for vulnerable people. No one should go hungry, and everyone deserves to be well-nourished. Please donate and help HIP continue this essential work!
