Mission Statement 

Ballard Performing Arts Boosters provides volunteers and funds that support outstanding education and performance opportunities for all students in band, choir, orchestra, and theatre programs at Ballard High School. 

Description 

Ballard Performing Arts Boosters (BPAB) supports the band, choir, orchestra, and theatre programs at Ballard High School with financial and volunteer assistance to ensure that students receive the richest arts experience possible. Because the music and theatre programs receive no financial assistance from the district or school budgets, BPAB works with students and faculty to raise over $100,000 annually. 

Our GiveBIG goal reflects our need to make up for a budget shortfall due to being unable to hold our customary in-person fundraisers this year. The money raised will be used for 3 main categories..

Specialists, Clinicians and Coaches: Our fantastic directors are stepping up efforts to bring in clinicians and specialists to work closely with the student groups to get everyone back into award-winning form. Specialists and coaching make up more than half of the Ballard Performing Arts Booster Club budget.

Scholarships: A goal of our booster club is to make performing arts available to every student who wants to participate. Many students in the program—and students who want to participate in the program—don’t have funds to pay for fees or trips. We want these programs to be an equitable, enriching and safe place for all kids to express themselves and grow. That is why our scholarships are so valuable to our booster program.  

Livestreaming: The plus side of being forced to livestream concerts so families can enjoy them is it also helps us move in directions to reach new and broader audiences. This livestreaming technology requires additional A/V skills and techniques. It’s a whole new line item in our budget!

Recognition 

The award-winning Ballard High School Performing Arts Program has gained regional, national, and international acclaim for their dynamic and inspired performances. The program includes over 400 students who participate in two concert bands, one concert choir, two treble choirs, two orchestras, percussion ensemble, two jazz bands, one jazz choir, multiple chamber ensembles, theatre classes, technical theatre classes, two plays, and a musical theatre production. Ballard Performing Arts sets a high standard of excellence for all students, ensembles, and productions while developing individual artistry through the study of challenging and artistic repertoire. 

In 2021 Ballard High School was named a winner of the SupportMusic Merit Award from The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation. As a recipient of this award for the third year in a row, Ballard High School is consistently recognized for its outstanding commitment to music education and the role of music and arts in a well-rounded education.
