Why Pongo?
An interaction with a Pongo mentor gives youth a chance to tell their story, sometimes for the first time, in their own words, judgement free.
I support Pongo because I know what poetry has meant in my own life. It is where I turn to express my extreme joy and my unbearable pain.
I believe that the arts and writing poetry specifically can be life changing. In addition to its direct service projects, Pongo trains teachers and counselors world-wide on the Pongo method, providing them with another tool to serve the mental health needs of today's youth.
