DERT is a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the Deschutes Watershed. DERT began organizing in 2009 and became a 501(c)(3) non-profit in 2011.
We are proud to have advocated for and helped secure full funding for the removal of the 5th Ave Dam in Olympia. Now we are excited to be planning DERT's next steps as a hub for environmental education and community building in South Puget Sound.
That's where you come in! DERT started with a few passionate folks with a vision. To move forward, we need to team up with a professional strategist to lay out next steps so we know how best we can serve our community.
Our $15,000 fundraising goal for GiveBIG includes $10,000 to fund a strategist for several months - from the planning stage to implementation. $2,500 is to support further Development. That means community outreach, connecting with our local partners, and supporting the DERT Team as it grows. Lastly, we are raising another $2,500 to go towards community events! Our 2025 CEDE Workshops were wildly popular and thanks to community funding we were able to offer them for free. These are the types of free events we will continue to host.
So take this chance to be part of DERT's future! Whether you can donate $5 or $500, every cent counts.
