Mission
Y-WE cultivates the power of diverse young women* to be creative leaders and courageous changemakers through transformative programs within a collaborative community of belonging.
*We center BIPOC youth and offer radical welcome to those who identify as women, girls, trans, non-binary, and/or gender expansive.
Description
Y-WE creates conditions for youth to find their voices and claim their power. Our programs are unified by five core approaches: radical welcome, healing in community, creative risk, connection through lived experience, and action for collective liberation. We connect youth to mentors who reflect their identities, building communities of belonging – an ongoing web of support and solidarity. In these spaces, our youth reject systems that seek to exploit and extract from them and build and imagine lives and communities that support and nourish them.
Empowered young people exercise their confidence, authenticity, and freedom. Resourced to engage with their depths, Y-WE youth are claiming their capacity to affect positive change – first in their own lives, and then in their communities.
Our goal this year is to raise $10,000 to support Y-WE’s transformative programming. To eliminate barriers to participation, we offer all programs free of cost – including healthy meals, transportation assistance, mental health support services, and more. Your gift directly impacts the youth we serve by sustaining our programming.
