Washington Association of Child Advocate Programs

A nonprofit organization

Mission

Our mission is to ensure that all dependent children in Washington State have a child advocate by promoting, supporting, and developing volunteer the 35 Child Advocate programs in Washington.

Description

Founded in 1988, we support a statewide network of 35 county-affiliated, non-profit, and tribal programs. Our focus aligns with our four main goals: awareness raising – volunteer recruitment and raising awareness of the needs of foster children, training – core training to new child advocate and ongoing education to experienced volunteer Child Advocates and local program staff, advocacy – communicating with our legislative partners on the importance and necessity of child advocate programs, and capacity building/technical support – providing data collection, program development, quality assurance and resource development for local programs.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to disrupt our lives and those of our friends, family and greater community, we're being required to rethink how our advocacy for children and families needs to adapt. Your support during this critical time will go to ensure that our advocacy for children continues. Our programs and advocates across the state are having to employ new technologies and creative strategies to ensure that the child's best interests is still hat the forefront of any decisions being made on behalf of the child. Every gift helps.
