Mission Statement

The Washington Bus is the largest youth-led, base-building organization dedicated to building and harnessing political power and leadership among young Washingtonians, especially those who have been historically disenfranchised.

We are on a mission to:

  • Cultivate the Largest Habitual Youth Voting Bloc: We transform civic engagement into an energizing, educational experience. By leveraging both on-campus and community-based organizing, we increase young people’s access and participation in the democratic process. Our innovative approach combines political education with enthusiasm, making politics accessible and relevant. We strive to build a powerful habitual youth voting bloc that ensures young voices drive our state's future and shape policies that affect their lives - from education and attacks on our democracy to climate change and economic justice.

  • Develop the Political Leaders of Today and Tomorrow: Our comprehensive leadership programs equip young individuals with essential skills in advocacy, organizing, and governance. We provide hands-on experience and mentorship, preparing participants for impactful roles in nonprofits, political campaigns, and government institutions. By fostering a pipeline of diverse, well-prepared young leaders, we're ensuring that youth perspectives are represented at all levels of decision-making in Washington State.

  • Harness our Base and Governing Power for Social and Political Systems Change: We are laser-focused on building a base of young leaders who are values-driven to organize their peers to create material improvement in the lives of young people. We re-engage and re-empower communities that have been historically disenfranchised, fostering a resilient and scaled youth movement capable of driving meaningful social and political transformation across Washington State.
