Mission
To serve the people in need of the Methow Valley by providing a weekly food bank, emergency financial assistance and other support programs while honoring and respecting one another at difficult times in our lives.
Description
The Cove has continued to distribute food and other assistance while adjusting to the restrictions that have been necessary to keep the community safe during the Covid crisis. We greet our "significant people" with open arms (elbow bumps) and open hearts and embrace a culture of treating others with respect and dignity and welcoming people, who never before imagined having to ask for food or other assistance. Families needing help to feed their children have either crossed our threshold at the food bank or are receiving supplemental weekend food through our Friday Food program. No one in our community should have to wonder where their next meal will come from or if they can afford to keep the heat or lights on at home.
With the continuation of Covid restrictions, the need has remained high for all our programs. The Friday Food program continues to provide supplemental food for the weekends, to local children in need, and with the help of the Methow Valley School District, we continued the program throughout last summer for the first time. The Cove Food Bank has been distributing food to more clients on a weekly basis. Aid and Assistance has increased their emergency, short-term financial assistance to additional households per week and we anticipate that need to remain constant.
Our intention is to do everything possible to keep our clients, volunteers, and community safe while continuing to operate these necessary programs. We have established a fast and efficient drive thru procedure for our clients and are part of the Okanogan County "Covid Safe Because We Care Pledge". The Cove has also partnered with the Town of Twisp to support the "BEE campaign…Be Empathetic to Everyone". We are committed to the members of this community.
We will continue our efforts to support our neighbors in need and remain committed to our mission of feeding and caring for the Methow Valley while honoring and respecting one another in difficult times. We ask for your help, as together with your financial support, we have the privilege of sowing seeds of action that produce vital resources for our community. We sincerely thank our generous donors who have helped us this past year. For those of you who are first-time contributors, we welcome you to The Cove family.
We thank you for your generosity in supporting The Cove and for your participation in the annual Seattle GiveBig campaign. YOU ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
