Our community health is our personal health.

Somali Health Board’s (SHB) mission is to improve the health outcomes of the Somali immigrant and refugee communities in King County through meaningful partnerships, education for providers and community leaders, and provision of culturally appropriate and relevant services. Over the past 10 years, SHB has served more than 5,000 Somali community members in King County, including 800 youth under the age of 18 years.

We are led by and for Somali immigrants and refugees; 100% of the staff and 60% of the Board of Directors are first- or second-generation Somali immigrants. We are uniquely positioned to understand and address the many cultural, religious, and language barriers that Somali individuals face in accessing health services in the United States.
