Mission

The Giraffe Heroes Project moves people to stick their necks out to help solve tough public problems. When we tell the stories of men, women and children acting with courage and compassion, others are inspired to move into action too. The telling of heroes’ stories has done this for millennia, all the way back to campfires and caves, to street gatherings and the singers of sagas.

The Giraffe Heroes Project is the troubadour for our times.

Description

The Project's online story-bank of over 1500 Giraffe Heroes gives people of all ages inspiration, hope, and templates for how to be of service themselves. 

Our outreach is growing as people of all ages share the enCouragement and inspiration we offer. We do a daily feed of stories in social media, and email updates to subscribers. 

We’re moving into creating Giraffe Hero videos to engage people who experience the world in quick bursts, on their phones. Watch this to see how powerful one minute can be. We'll create as many of these as we can, with the money we can raise.  

Meanwhile our state-of-the-art teaching materials give teachers and families ways to help kids build lives of courage and caring. Most of them are now free, online. Check them out here. See especially our ground-breaking video program for the very young,  now online here, updated for teachers’ use on their laptops, tablets and phones.

Giraffe Heroes International has been almost too successful in generating inspiring new stories of heroes in Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Kenya and South Africa who are often risking their lives to combat Covid, corruption, poverty, crimes against women and more. We’ve had to tell our affiliates in those countries to slow the pace a bit until funding catches up. You can help!

 18,294 teachers have now downloaded our UN-endorsed  Spanish-language Giraffe curriculum in schools in Argentina. Information gained from our campaign in Argentina supports our efforts to get the program into Spanish-speaking classrooms in other parts of the world. Your support will speed up this process too.
