Mission

Spark Northwest partners with communities to build an equitable clean energy future. We work closely with rural, Indigenous, and low-wealth groups to accelerate the transition to clean energy. Our practical, hands-on approach is customized to meet each community’s interest, readiness level and clean energy goals. We apply lessons from our on-the-ground clean energy projects to advocate for equitable energy policies in Oregon and Washington.

Description

For twenty years Spark Northwest has worked at the local level to build equitable, affordable clean energy through community energy programs and policy reform.

We believe that the clean energy transition must prioritize people on the front lines of climate change to overcome patterns of social and economic injustice. To that end, Spark Northwest designs our clean energy programs and policy around a central goal of building power and wealth in rural, Tribal and low-wealth communities. We look to our Black, Indigenous and people of color-led partners for guidance on what clean energy strategies to pursue in our region. Our broad goals are to advance clean energy programs that: (1) build capability and capacity, (2) reduce energy burdens, and (3) strive towards energy democracy.

Please help us build stronger communities and a healthier environment through the power of clean energy!
