Space Between

A nonprofit organization

“This works! In the midst of increasing intrusions to being ourselves (social media, targeted marketing), wouldn’t we want to give young people the tools to navigate their future centered in who they are and how they feel?”

- Teacher & Board Member, Wil Depusoy

Mission

Space Between envisions that all students are well and whole. Our mission is to facilitate human and school transformation with mindfulness practices. When implemented with a community approach, mindfulness practices promote attention, emotional regulation, compassion, stress reduction, well-being, and resilience.

What We Do

Founded in 2016, our programming includes school partnerships and community workshops, intensives and events, where we teach mindfulness practices to students and their connected adults. We teach practices of awareness with senses, breath, the body, thoughts, emotions, and compassion, building in the ability to pay attention to the present moment with curiosity and compassion. Studies show that mindfulness practices help increase focus and performance, reduce anxiety and conflict, and promote resilience and wellbeing. More tangibly, here's a sampling of what our program participants say:

“Since learning mindfulness, something that has changed in my life is that I'm not as anti-social in school. I talk to people more, and I am a little bit more popular and have more friends.” - 3rd grader

“Mindfulness has helped me be more confident and brave…these practices have helped me be kinder.” - 5th grader

“Your amazing practices continue to fill our home.  Thank you for your amazing footprint in our lives!” - Parent
