South Kitsap Helpline's mission is to provide access to healthy food and to emergency resources to help those in crisis make ends meet when there is more month than money.

Description

Because of generosity like yours, 14,609 local households received services through our food bank this past year. During that same time, we were able to provide more than 40,146 children, adults and seniors in crisis with groceries. We also distributed more than 1.3 million lbs. of food through our food bank--just last year alone! 

Between SNAP cuts, the government shutdown and then the continued increase in the cost of groceries, it has become even more difficult for people to make ends meet so the help provided by programs like ours has become even more critical. It is only because of gifts like yours that we were able to meet the even-greater need for assistance we saw this past year.

We are thrilled to share that in November of 2025, we were able to move to our new building located at 4215 SE Mile Hill Drive in Port Orchard. This former restaurant building offers us so much more space for client services, food storage, client and donor parking. But the dignity our new space offers to those we serve is the very best part! This building was made possible for us by a legislative appropriation championed by Senator Patty Murray which covered the purchase cost. Our new building has a commercial kitchen, a large community room, public restrooms and a large waiting area and lobby. We have more than doubled the size of our former food market for clients and have already expanded our self-serve grocery options which included greatly expanding our nutrition programs for children and senior citizens right away. We have so many exciting plans for the kitchen in the coming year which includes processing and preserving bulk foods to reduce food waste and eventually, even a hot meal program for the community!
