Mission

The Sno-Isle Libraries Foundation mobilizes people and resources to expand the reach of library services, promote civic engagement, and foster a lifetime of learning. 

Description

As the philanthropic arm of Sno-Isle Libraries, the Foundation partners with individuals, businesses, foundations, corporations, and community organizations to support Sno-Isle Libraries vital programs and services, serving 800,000 residents of Snohomish and Island counties. 

We invest in early literacy programs, such as Third Graders Read Together, which enables 5,000 students each year to discover the joy of reading; Explore Summer, which helps 15,000 kids and teens annually to improve their reading skills while on summer break; and World Languages Storytime, which engages children from bilingual families with Storytimes in languages other than English. 

We fund lifelong learning programs, such as Sno-Isle Reads Together, which engages hundreds of avid readers around a selected book, and the annual Trudy Sundberg Lecture Series, which brings world-class speakers to the Whidbey Island community to present on diverse topics. Donations from our community enable us to enrich the library collection, fund capital improvements throughout the District, including the recent remodel of the Darrington Library and the new roof of the Arlington Library, and support the annual lease expenses for the Mariner and Lakewood/Smokey Point demonstration libraries.

In 2024, the Foundation has committed to double its funding of the essential library programs and services we'll be supporting, while investing in many additional programs, including author talks, youth, adult, and intergenerational programs, Discover Passes, and many others.
