Mission

We have established a Farm Relief Fund that aids farmers hit by any one of the many disasters that can impact agricultural production including fire, flood, drought, pandemics, broken supply chain, climate change and other emergencies. 

Description

The SFMA Market Association is a 501c3 non-profit that supports the vitality of Washington State’s agricultural communities for the lasting life of equitable local resources, accessibility, and food justice.

We are in affiliation with the Ballard, Madrona, and Wallingford farmers markets - concrete extensions of the farmlands and creative kitchens where makers can assimilate to make a living, support the local economy, and provide equitable access to healthy, affordable, and culturally relevant foods.  

What Farm Relief means for the entire community

• Providing direct assistance to farmers and food processors experiencing hardship due to any one of the many disasters that can impact agricultural production, including fire, flood, drought, pandemics, climate change, and other emergencies. 
• Supporting educational programs for future farmers by donating time & funds for maintaining campus gardens, providing community outreach and fundraising.
• Providing direct access to farm-raised, nutritional food in our urban communities, year-round.

Step into community with a claim on it!  Our collaborative efforts are essential to the sustainability of community health and permanence. 

• We want to be able to accept every qualified scholarship applicant for the Farm Relief Fund in 2023 and beyond!
• Let's build a diverse and effective volunteer program with a focus on interconnection.
• Let's create a multi-faceted, on-going program that encompasses food delivery, food production and an ongoing, cyclic platform of education that students will bring to farmers markets and community centers throughout the Seattle area. 
•  Let's Collaborate with local food banks to deliver farm raised food to neighbors who have accessibility barriers to farmers markets such as disabilities, transportation, location, single parents and the elderly.
