Seattle Labor Chorus

A nonprofit organization

Mission

The Seattle Labor Chorus is a musical voice of labor in Seattle. We perform at rallies, educational events, union meetings, and on stages around the Puget Sound area.  We help preserve our collective memory about the history, goals, and vision of the movement for social and economic justice in four part harmony.

Description

We began in 1997 as a feature of the Northwest Folklife Festival, singing as a chorus to back up Pete Seeger. We recently performed for OPEIU Local 8, Starbucks United, and WFSE.  Our Flying Squad (a subset of SLC) brings music to the streets by teaching and performing protest music at rallys and on picket lines, and they recently attended the AFT 1789 walk-out and Stop Big Banks Funding Fossil Fuels rallies in Seattle.

Come hear the Seattle Labor Chorus at the Northwest Folklife Festival in May.  All our events can be found at http://seattlelaborchorus.org.

Recognition

Half of our funding comes from members of the Chorus.  As a friend of the Chorus, please donate what you can.
