Stay in the Game Scholarships 

Right now, our city, state, and country are in flux—and so are Seattle Colleges. While we have much to celebrate, challenges threaten our students’ futures.  

Nearly 34,000 students persevere despite balancing academics with the stress of meeting basic needs. They inspire us daily, yet: 

• 4 in 10 face food insecurity,
• 3 in 10 experience housing instability,
• 1 in 10 have been homeless.

Education transforms lives, especially for first-generation students, working parents, and those from low-income backgrounds. A single unexpected expense can derail their journey. That’s why Stay in the Game scholarships (created with the Mariners) help students cover essential costs beyond tuition—keeping them on track. 

The need has never been greater. Last year, we awarded scholarships to only 40% of deserving applicants, providing $2 million to over 500 students. This year, applications have surged by 35%, reaching a record-breaking 1,662.
