Mission

Saving Great Animals is a foster-based dog rescue in the Puget Sound area dedicated to saving the lives of homeless dogs living in high-kill shelters, abuse and neglect situations, or with owners no longer able to provide care. Each dog receives love and medical care in a foster home and is then matched with an adoptive family. Our motto is "The Right Dog for the Right Home" and much of our effort is spent ensuring the right match is made for both the adopter and the dog.

Description

Founded in 2007, Saving Great Animals works tirelessly to save the lives of homeless dogs living in high-kill shelters, abuse and neglect situations, or with owners no longer able to provide care. Each dog we rescue is placed into a loving foster home and provided with medical care and behavioral training before working with potential adopters in order to ensure each dog is matched with the right family. We rescued and re-homed 277 dogs in 2022 and 328 dogs in 2021. Much of our effort is spent ensuring that the right match is made for each adopter as well as each dog. Our Director and key volunteers are available 24/7 to our adopters and fosters to ensure any concerns are addressed. As a result, our return rates are very low once a dog is adopted.

We're also known for working with shut down or feral dogs and we involve our community in these special cases by setting up schedules for volunteers to sit with the dogs for socialization. Our Director and volunteer staff members have over 10 years of experience working with and re-homing dogs and are dedicated to the rehabilitation and well-being of each dog that comes into our care.
